Apple Education leadership summit Hong Kong

Ali Hughes and Nick Billowes attended the summit in Hong Kong as a part of their recent market development tour of both Singapore and Hong Kong.

The CORE duo was immersed for two days in a range of activity, seminars and workshops at this event, run and supported by Apple Asia and held at the Hong Kong International School.

Speakers included Prof Stephen Heppell, a long time colleague and partner of CORE, who provided a focus on future schooling, future schools and future students. Speakers including Tom Kelly focused on innovation and risk-taking in education.

The event served to illustrate both the ongoing thirst for teachers to get together and talk as well as the very solid platform that now exists in New Zealand where change in education has been a state of being for the past 15 years.
“Much of the content of the seminar overall reinforced the approach to enterprise taken by many New Zealand schools, reiterated the importance of inquiry practices, looked at the wider range of technology inclusion in educators’ programmes and added more evidence to the debate on the centrality of the learner in 21st Century classrooms,” Nick says.

The chance to connect and rebuild relationships with colleagues from the Navigator Consortium in Melbourne, have time with Marco Torres (Sandiago), re-connect with Stephen Heppell and take time at Discovery Bay School with Mark Beech, made this summit a valuable session for CORE representation.
