UK educationalists enthuse about NZ teacher conference

Last  month’s ULearn 08 conference run by CORE Education NZ for teachers is an incredible opportunity for networking, sharing experiences and learning, according to visiting UK educationalists.

Richard Millwood, Sarah Jones and Malcolm Moss from sister organisation CORE UK, have been visiting New Zealand to participate in the ULearn 08 conference and other seminars and workshops.

School self - review tool creates huge interest

A new comprehensive web-based self-review tool for whole school development, EPS2.0, is central to the new CORE Enable suite of services launched at the recent ULearn 08 conference.

Created jointly by CORE Education and Australian educator, Dr Julia Atkin, EPS2.0 (Educational Positioning System) is designed to help schools understand their place within the educational landscape and establish where they’d like to be and what needs to be done to get there.

ULearn08 is about to launch its pre-conference activity ahead of the full day pre-conference workshop on 7 October 2008 followed by the conference on 8 - 10 October 2008 at the Christchurch Convention Centre, (see the other story in this newsletter).

Efellow wins Microsoft award

CORE Education eFellow Michael Fenton from New Plymouth has won an award to attend the Asia Pacific Microsoft Innovative Teachers conference in Malaysia next year.  

For his eFellow project, Michael has been testing an innovative mobile games/sensor/data logger he invented entitled “RIGEL” (Real World Interactive Games and Electronics Link) in primary, intermediate and secondary school learning in science, mathematics, physical education and technology.
